THE LONE SURVIVORS At the beginning of both series, Uryu Ishida and Sasuke Uchiha are introduced as the last survivors of their respective people: the Quincy Race and the Uchiha Clan. Each of these clans was wiped out in a devastating massacre, with Uryu’s people (the Quincy) being exterminated by Soul Reapers to prevent a greater catastrophe befalling the cycle of life and death, while Sasuke’s Uchiha clan was slaughtered by his older brother, Itachi, under orders from the Hidden Leaf village inorder to foil a brewing coup which would have destroyed the village whether or not it was successful.
